CRESCENDO

The primary focus areas and the timeline for the next funding opportunity

Funding Your Cyber Resilience

The CRESCENDO project is an initiative dedicated to bolstering cybersecurity preparedness and resilience within the Nordic energy sector. By deploying specialized services in security testing, threat assessment, and risk monitoring, the project aims to enhance incident response capabilities through collaborative efforts among Nordic countries.

To support these goals, CRESCENDO provides funding opportunities, through calls for proposals, enabling energy and cybersecurity stakeholders to develop and implement innovative solutions. The first call for proposal opens in August 2025, followed by a second round in early 2027. Selected projects will receive funding to advance cybersecurity measures, strengthen cross-border cooperation, and contribute to a more resilient energy infrastructure.

Each selected project can receive up to €200,000, with the requirement that 50% of the total budget must be self-funded.To foster collaboration and impact, projects must include at least two partners and be completed within six months. This is a unique opportunity for organizations to enhance their cybersecurity capabilities with financial support and expert guidance.

More information about the funding opportunities and application process will be updated on this site, as well as through our newsletter.

Projects

Main focus areas

Focus 1

Strengthening energy cybersecurity

Strengthening the security posture of crucial entities within the energy sector. This entails establishing shared methodologies among participating countries, developing penetration testing scenarios for networks, industrial control systems, and IoT, supporting the deployment of digital tools and infrastructures to execute testing scenarios, using cyber-ranges services tailored to the sector, and crafting cross-border cyber exercise scenarios for utilization in the cyber ranges.

Focus 2

Testing & evaluating

Assessing and testing cybersecurity capabilities (prevention, detection, response, recovery) of vital energy sector entities. This involves aiding in evaluating the cybersecurity maturity of essential entities using uniform methods, assessing systemic risks (including cross border risks), providing recommendations to enhance cybersecurity maturity, and supporting the implementation of these recommendations.

Focus 3

Formulating & implementing

Assisting sectoral CSIRTs in formulating and implementing uniform processes and procedures for threat and risk assessment, continuous risk monitoring, and effective risk and threat communication, as well as information sharing.
